RE:"Hi Paul,

It would be a rather nice short-term stock play if AMD went out of
business, but long-term I would have some concerns re: FTC.

Re: "The semiconductor business is not a welfare system."
No free lunches? I heard you were trying to pay for the entire SI lunch
(i.e. ~30 people). For someone who doesn't believe in the welfare
system, you seem to have a generous heart. :) "....

----Let me know if Paul pays for lunch. ROTFL.

Amy - Re: "It would be a rather nice short-term stock play if AMD went out of business, but long-term I would have some concerns re: FTC. "

The FTC is anon-issue.

The FTC brought charges against Intel because three of Intel's CUSTOMERS brought pressure on the FTC after Intel cut-off Intellectual Property sharing and , in one case, product shipments, AFTER THESE INTEL Customers SUED INTEL !

The FTC resolved the case with Intel giving Intel the rights to protect its IP under conditions if it is sued by a CUSTOMER of Intel.

The FTC case did NOT ADDRESS Intel's position with respect its COMPETITORS.

If Intel's success results in FAILURE for AMD, that's life in the big city (or, Big Valley !). There are no rules against competing aggressively and putting your competition out of business if you are a better, low cost, more efficient, producer.
