Forrest,
I found a Cramer article (5/20) in thestreet.com saying COF was guilty by association only (re: Providian's Cal. problems) and therefore a good buy. That was before today's drop. The delayed opening today was a concern.
As soon as I can be sure that today was not a signal that COF is in some kind of trouble, too, then I buy more. I got creamed last month when the "big FRES buyout" became a lame, dilutive merger instead. I figure I can short-term recover much better in COF than in FRES.
Lastly, that comment above about COG possibly being in legal trouble like Providian is a far distant, remote, worst case scenario only. COF people are my homeboys, they started from a rock-solid ethical base.
