if these new studies really establish a scientific link, this could be a disaster

I wonder if it was done in analog. I understand that the potential problem is much less with digital, plus, as the power lowers, if will be even less. However, the enviomental types, plus the press, will cause a scare if they can.

A key factor in these new studies, if there is any validity to their conclusions, would be whether the phones were digital or analog, and whether, if digital, they used a GSM/TDMA system or a CDMA system. In the earlier studies using analog phones, it was pointed out that one reason the results using CDMA would not be comparable was that a CDMA phone transmitter is "on" only when actual words are being spoken. The analog handset transmitter is on as long as the connection with the other party is on. So even if there were a radiation effect, it would be much less with CDMA. We need to know more about what equipment was evaluated in the latest studies.

idler,
<<<, this is the single most dangerous issue concerning investments in cellular / wireless in general ->>>
This goes around every year or so. There is a small company that is permoting an antenna that solves the problem and they are good at promotions that scare the market.
