Regarding the TSMC 300mm fab, the announcement is true. A lot can happen between now and the groundbreaking (next spring) or the planned opening (2002), but that's true of any fab.

Certainly capacity builds are a very good thing for equipment companies, even though it will be several years before this one translates into actual dollars. I wouldn't say that 300 mm is better for the industry overall than 200 mm capacity, but it may change the mix of companies a bit.
