This is a general reply to much of the day's discussions on this board.

I've been investing for 20+ years. I remember what I owned in 1987 & 1991. I wish I still owned most of it.

I've always been wary of people who say:"It's different this time," or, "The old rules don't apply." Rarely are they right.

I must say the internet age has me puzzled. P/Earnings or P/Sales? How do you value companies today? Is this a new era? When I read Permission Marketing, for the first time I saw the strategies of the Amazon's etc. Make no mistake, anyone who buys such stock is betting on future earnings...but the potential reward is huge. The steep stock prices of companies without earnings today is justified, IF they are the eventual success story. That's what we're all betting on isn't it? I think the rules are different for the winners. The losers will be sorely punished.

Barbera says MSGI may be in the black in 2000 (years ahead of most net stocks, I might add). GEC and CMGI have placed their bets. I think MSGI will be one of the success stories.
