DIGL-here's the new article: (PR NEWSWIRE) Digital Lightwave Signs OEM Contract With Lucent Technologie Digital Lightwave Signs OEM Contract With Lucent Technologies Will Provide Integrated Optical Monitoring For Lucent's New WaveStar(TM) System CLEARWATER, Fla., May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Lightwave(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: DIGL), a provider of optical networking products, today announced it has signed an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) contract to provide integrated performance monitoring and diagnostic capabilities for the Lucent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: LU) WaveStar Optical Line System (OLS) 400G. Lucent's placement of orders for product is conditional upon Digital Lightwave achieving certain milestone events. Lucent Technologies' WaveStar is a new modular 80-channel Ultra-Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (UWDM) optical transmission system that dramatically increases fiber capacity and flexibility for global optical networks. Developed by world-renowned Bell Labs, the system delivers up to 400 gigabits- per-second capacity over a single strand of fiber -- equivalent to carrying more than three million simultaneous calls on one fiber. Under the OEM agreement, Digital Lightwave will manufacture an optical monitoring system designed for integration within the WaveStar system, based on its core Network Access Agent(TM) technology. This new Lucent-branded product provides comprehensive error analysis and performance monitoring of any of the eighty OC-48 channels in the WaveStar system. "Digital Lightwave is committed to providing intuitive testing of optical networks that give our customers a competitive advantage," said Gerry Chastelet, president and chief executive officer of Digital Lightwave. "We are excited that Lucent, a global leader in optical networking, has chosen our Network Access Agent technology for its revolutionary UWDM system." Lucent and Digital Lightwave plan to demonstrate the new optical monitoring technology at Supercomm '99 in Atlanta, Georgia, June 8-10.
