...and that is the way it is staying--a paper loss.

One hopes that's the way it is staying!
:-o

Yeah, today was weird. If you stand back and look at the big mongo picture, what does Mr. Rinky-Dink, little guy J6P trader (IOW, moi!) see? Well, ummm, Rubin steps down, Summers will step in. Supposedly this isn't a big deal, but there's a wee bit o' uncertainty there; never know what might happen when you have a "prickly" nature in control. Ummmmmm, what else? I guess we also got that tightening bias..., hey, I think it's mistaken in reality, but I guess it's OK if you want to send a message of vigilance to the bond mavens. It's true that I did spend the most I have in months at the pump yesterday to fill up my '94 Saturn SL2 (was shocked to see I had to pay > $11!), but I'm not worried about the core; sorry, I may be an old geezer in my 30-ies, but I'm not blind to technologically driven advancements in productivity, hee, hee, heeeee.... And then of course there's the old summer techno-slump, but I thought it's rather early for that. Even in the early whacks of '94 and '96 it didn't hit till about July. So, I'm puzzled at what's going on, but not overly concerned; just sort of settin' here, hunkerin' down for a bit. Don't hit me!!!!!!!!!

The bottom line is: when investing, any information everyone knows isn't worth knowing. Everybody knows BNBN is coming, and everyone has bought for the "inevitable" pop that "always" comes with a .com spinoff. Well, there are no "always" on wall Street. The smart money is out, and all that's left are a bunch of short term holders who thought they'd cut and run after a few points' profit. These people will now be desperate to get out. This baby could lose 30% in the next week. Oh, but its not a loss unless you sell. Get real!
