That is a frightening scenario.

I understand that the U.S. Navy's Close-In-Weapons-System (CIWS) has about a forty percent success rate. I believe that this system is the only viable deterrent to an anti-ship missile.

When I hear news of some new Russian weapon against which there is no defense, I am always tempted to suspect that a proposal for spending a few billion dollars on a new weapons system of our own is right behind it. Remember the hype that surrounded the first appearance of the MIG-29?

I'm not saying its impossible, just that it needs to be taken with a grain or two of salt.
