305 hp out of a 6 banger? Could be, IO's are rated at the crank shaft and outboards at the prop. 75 is my top now, I could do 95 with a different prop and jack the motor up a couple of notches. But why? After 55 the wind means more than the water. I plane off instantly with two aboard. Well two boat lengths.

So why the cuddy instead of a bow rider with full canvass? Don't you get short of space with an IO and a cabin on a 17 footer?
