<DSL also eliminates the need for an extra phone line, I believe True. My old 2nd phone line ran around $18-20/month, and my DSL line runs me $30/mo, instead (the data is on a high frequency carrier on top of POTS). Phone and data simultaneous, Internut always on, yada yada. I get 64 kbytes/sec download and 28 kbytes/sec upload. I don't think I could keep up with this newsgroup with anything slower. BTW, I doubt I'll ever have anything else useful to post to you guys, but I am enjoying the dialog around here. I've found the last 2-3 years rather insane in the investment world and spend a lot of time trying to make sense of it, and I've found much useful information, opinion, and historical (and hysterical) perspective here.
