What can Backup exec do that Suresync can not do?
It seems like 2Copy and Suresync both do this. Backup Exec requires a restore function.

I think that is the major difference between them.

Will Backup Exec do a complete restore like Drive Image? ie Will it maintain a 'delayed mirror' of the C drive..something one can restore as a bootable clone of the C drive?

According to what I've read and my general understanding Of BE...yes yes yes. I've not actually tried it though. But as you point out, there is a procedure involved to restore from the FullBackup.qic file.

2copy and Suresync destination sets have a good chance at bootability themselves when the complete OS is copied. Probably the only way to know how changing drive letters effect everything is to try and see what happens after doing a DI of course. A separate machine for this kind of experimentation sure would be nice.

I make Drive Images but I want an automated equivalent of drive Image.

I don't know the details but there's a new DI Pro that, I think is schedulable. I didn't read to closely because there was a reason, which I have forgotten, it was not for me. Maybe only works over aLAN? PQ has a product page on it.

I was reading through your posts ZP also interested in a more automated/mirrored sync/back-up scheme. I tried BXCopy a long time ago and will return to it (i can't remember what I thought of it back then), but as I was tracking down a copy I found my way back to a site I hadn't been to in a while sysinternals.com and i was reminded of what a great site I think it is. So I thought I would throw the link out.

>>The G incident is interesting. It does not follow the rules described in the PM manual. ie the the first Master IDE drive is the C drive if it is the boot drive

The first (active primary) partition on the system I referred to
IS the C drive, and it is also the boot partition (where NTloader
and boot.ini are). It is not, however, the partition where
my primary NT itself resides. Not the same thing.

However, it is possible for NT to relable the boot partition
to something other than C. That I have done, though only
during temporary disk swapping. It's NOT a thing I recommend.
VERY confusing.
