I know you will probably get pissed, but, no, don't enter if it doesn't appeal to you. I am not TRYING to make anybody mad at all, i just don't think shorting is in the realm of Buffetology. If the time frame for value investing is longer than the interests of the members of this group, then they don't need to enter. All i ever intended to do is see how good the 'buy and hold' strategy on long term investing would go in TODAY'S market, that's all. Sure, you can get bit in a downturn of the market, but (allegedly) if you make good investments in financially sound companies, they will come back. I wonder how BH weathered the correction of 1987 ?? I am sure they didn't sell sell sell sell everything. good luck to you.
