unclewest,

excerpt:
"But perhaps the most important new product from Intel will be its Camino
(440JX) chipset-which should be out by the time you read this.

Maybe he's assuming you're taking a slow boat to China and back, or a Queen Mary round trip of the Atlantic. Isn't all the talk from Intel, etc., that Camino is due in late summer?

<windows magazine, june 1, 1999, says intel 440jx chipset supporting rambus rdram is due now. i cannot find any information on the intel site or anywhere else regarding a 440jx. can you verify this?>

Perhaps they were expecting the Camino 440JX to have stuck to the original release date of June 1999, instead of the new release date of September.

Uncle - Re: "Rambus 440JX"

Intel's Camino Chipset will be identified as the i820 .

It will support DRDRAM - a single channel - and a 133 MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) to drive the Coppermine CPU.

Camino is scheduled for a September launch.

The last word I heard was that Intel had received the latest B0 silicon stepping for Camino and expected all known electrical interface issues to be resolved with that stepping.

September launch is still " a go".
