Cringe - Re: "Speaking of past posts, It seems like the K7 hype is almost as big as the K6 hype was back then ..."

Good summary.

As a matter of fact, I had been doing other things just prior to the K6 launch.

I attended the K6 launch - at AMD's headquarters - on April 2, 1997. Got a swell T- Shirt !

Careful reading of the AMD "data" showed clearly that the K6 - while a decent entry - was not going to be an Intel Killer - despite Sander's "SNEAK DEMO" of a 0.35 micron 266 MHz K6 that NEVER MADE IT TO PRODUCTION.

By the way - AMD had to "jack up" the K6 voltage from 2.9 to 3.2/3.3 just to reach 200 and 233 MHz on the 0.35 micron process.

Deja-Vu , non ?
