Why is irrational, unrelenting buying seen as healthy, while a little selling is viewed as aberrational?

I held onto all of my positions yesterday. I have June puts on CMB, WMT, FDX and PVN - I want to close them out this week.

Analysts and traders struggled to explain Monday's declines. There was no economic news, and the bond market, which has been in turmoil lately, was quiet.
