IN THE NEWS... Citibank, Others Cleared Of Plot To Kill “Martian.” A Canadian judge dismissed a claim that Defense Minister Art Eggleton, Citibank and several drug-store chains were part of a conspiracy to kill a complainant because he is a Martian. Turning the tables on the “Martian,” an Ontario Superior Court judge dismissed Rene Joly's “vexatious” case on the grounds that he claimed not to be human and therefore had no status before the courts. Joly, described by a lawyer in the case as not your typical Martian, began the action in April, contending that the Shopper's Drug Mart chain had sold him poison instead of medication, that Canadian troops in Germany had implanted a microchip in his brain, and that Citibank had perpetrated a credit card fraud – all in a bid to further U.S. assassination attempts on his life. Joly maintains he is cloned from material recovered in the 1960s by NASA from Mars. Unfortunately, he can't prove it because records revealing his DNA have been falsified. “It's only going to end when the truth is exposed. The American government, and its accomplices in Canada, are trying to eliminate me because I am a Martian and they do want to get their hands on my body,” Joly stated. A physicist has shown how the bizarre behavior of the quantum world could arise from time warps that are created as particles interact. Myriad strange things happen in the quantum world. For instance, the properties of a subatomic particle, such as its position and momentum, hover in fuzzy superpositions of various states until the moment they are measured, at which point they become certain. But why does a measurement have this effect? Physicists have come up with many speculative ideas, for instance, that the transition from uncertainty to certainty somehow arises out of the interaction of the particle with a measuring instrument, or even with human consciousness itself. Mark Hadley, a physicist at the University of Warwick, claims he has cracked the puzzle by drawing on Einstein's suggestion that particles might be tiny warps in space. Hadley has developed this idea, treating particles as warps or kinks in space-time called “geons.” Inside a geon, time could loop back on itself, allowing a particle to be influenced by events in its future as well as its past. Scientists will be carrying out aerial research over Wiltshire next month in the hope of finding out once and for all whether the mysterious patterns are genuine or the work of hoaxers. Some believe they are created by UFOs during nocturnal visits. Others say they are connected to ancient “ley lines,” or put it down to natural phenomena such as unusual forms of lightning. The first few crop circles of the season have already appeared in several West Country fields. The area has long been the focal point of those in Britain who believe that the circles are the work of extraterrestrial forces. Work funded by the billionaire has already built up the biggest crop circle database. Web Cam to Capture Christ's Millennium Return. A Christian group has provided a web cam so surfers can watch for the return of Christ. Daystar International has set up the camera to watch the Golden Gate in Jerusalem where it is believed Jesus will return to close the Millennium. The group also believe armchair observers can become “virtual watchmen” of the gate. [Source: Channel 4 Videotext News / London] Mir to Crash on Paris in August? Designer Paco Rabanne fears his next fashion show may be his last -- not for reasons of changing tastes, but because Russia's Mir space station will crash down and destroy the haute couture capital Paris. The fireball is coming on August 11, just as the 16th century French seer Nostradamus predicted, says Rabanne, who is so convinced of disaster he has written a book warning about it. The Spanish-born designer has been fascinated by the occult since the age of seven, when he says he briefly left his body one night to fly among the stars. As a student in Paris, he had a vision of people burned alive by fires even when they jumped into the Seine. “All the prophecies say Paris will burn at the end of time,” he says. “Reading the prophecies of Nostradamus, I thought it would be a fireball or an asteroid that would fall on Paris.” When scientists told him the Mir space station could fall, Rabanne found the key he was looking for to some quatrains that Nostradamus wrote about the disaster he saw for Paris. According to Rabanne, the Mir station will start to fall out of its earth orbit in July and hit the Chateau de Vincennes, a massive fort in eastern Paris, on August 11. [Source: CNN and Reuters]
