KLIC is backend, a minimal component of the total orders.

If you want to see the correlation using KLIC, then you need to plot price vs the back end orders.

With the numbers that you're using, AMAT might show the best correlation even though you have the total; and it's a 3 month rolling average; and it's seasonally adjusted; ...

i.e. - the information just isn't readily available to do the job, though I completely agree with your hypothesis.

Jerome, do you have a problem accessing the KLIC vs SEMI orders chart?
geocities.com If you can access the chart you will see that it extends
from Feb'96 to Apr'99.
There you can see a correlation, if you mentally smooth the
price data. You cannot see it looking at just 4 months.

If you cannot access the chart, I'll be glad to e-mail it.
