Wayne and thread,

For those interested in international trade and exchange rates, I strongly recommend the paperback Currencies and Crises, a collection of papers from the mid 80's to date by one of the sharpest minds in the field today, Paul Krugman. If that is too academic, a popular economics book by the same author, Pop Internationalism, is excellent in understanding the effects of globalization on the US economy.
