I think wanting to sit up in heaven and look down on all the people who dissed you in your lifetime is also understandable. Not nice, but human. For better or for worse, it's hard to forgive your enemies. But that's not what it's about, Blue. Why "enemies"? Most club members won't even KNOW any of the folks broiling down in Hell. The bulk of those folks will be broiling only because they were "unbelievers" -- i.e., atheists, polytheists, Hindus, heretics, etc. & etc. No. The primary pleasure for club members derives not from seeing their own personal enemies punished (although for some, this may be a major factor!), but from the mere fact that they belong to an exclusive club to which others do not have access. Also very human, and not nice at all. Joan
