Compaq Announces Comprehensive Program for Knowledge Management based on Microsoft Technologies
Compaq Work Expeditor version 1.2 complements KM initiative
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 25, 1999-- Building on its existing capabilities, Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ - news) today announced a Knowledge Management initiative for the Microsoft platform to help customers plan and implement knowledge management solutions in an integrated IT environment. Compaq's Knowledge Management initiative is also a key component of its NonStop® eBusiness strategy unveiled last month.
The only company endorsed by Microsoft Corp. as worldwide prime integrator for the Windows NT operating system, Compaq is in a unique position to help customers dramatically accelerate the adoption and implementation of knowledge management.
Today's announcement includes:
-- Knowledge Management IT Services program - Compaq's strategy is to provide a foundation for implementing knowledge management solutions by delivering a full portfolio of services for business intelligence, messaging and collaboration, and intranets.
-- Compaq Work Expeditor version 1.2 - a collaboration and work management application for users of Microsoft Exchange and SQL Server. The new version of Work Expeditor includes the latest knowledge management technologies from Microsoft as well as new ease-of-use features and improved performance.
- New Architecture Services Labs and Services - Compaq is opening six new Architecture Services Labs (ASLs) and adding two new services to support customers' fast start on Knowledge Management projects in their efforts to implement Knowledge Management solutions using Microsoft technology.

For example, Servicio Andaluz de la Salud (SAS) is a public healthcare organization in southern Spain that is working with Compaq to create one of the largest intranets/extranets in Europe. Compaq Work Expeditor version 1.2
Compaq offers key software enablers as part of its lifecycle services for knowledge management. Work Expeditor provides comprehensive, advanced capabilities to help customers rapidly build collaboration and workflow solutions using Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, and Outlook. Compaq Work Expeditor version 1.2, announced today, significantly improves performance over the previous version with a quicker response time performing various collaboration activities. Server efficiency has also been improved, allowing for large deployments of Work Expeditor. Other new features and/or enhancements include:
