Most IPO's open late in the morning because it takes hours to try to balance the orders to come up with supposedly fair price . For instance, on the WEBT IPO, on the eve of the IPO, WEBT priced at 13 versus the original 9-11 range. Orders from their roadshow exceeded 15 million shares versus IPO share offering of 3 million. Result was WEBT opened at 35-38 at 1 PM eastern time. Dain was lead underwriter for WEBT. Morgan Stanley is lead underwriter for BRCD and they also did IPO for Broadcom ( BRCM ). BRCD has been re-priced upwards TWICE. Word on the Street is BRCD is VERY oversubscribed and this is consistent with the pricing of the IPO. I would not be surprised to see BRCD open between Noon - 1 PM ( Eastern time )and trade anywhere between
40 - 70 on Day 1 ( today ). Should be interesting.
