RESEARCH ALERT-ING Barings upgrades Belden Reuters Story - May 25, 1999 10:33 CHICAGO, May 25 (Reuters) - ING Baring Furman Selz said Tuesday analyst Diane Graboski upgraded her investment rating on Belden Inc. to strong buy from hold. -- No further details were available. -- On Monday, Belden, which makes electronic and electric wire and cable agreed to purchase copper cable products maker Cable Systems International Inc. for $180 million in cash. -- CSI is the second-largest U.S. manufacturer of copper telecommunications cable. The company was formed in October 1995 when AT&T Corp. sold its Copper Cable Products Division to an investor group and members of senior management of the unit. -- Belden shares were ahead 2-1/16 at 22-3/8 in morning trade on the New York Stock Exchange
