County of Sacramento, CA, Purchases Pen-Based Computers
IRVINE, Calif., May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Wordcraft Systems, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: WORC - news) announced that the County of Sacramento has purchased its first two Pen-Based Computers to ''roll out'' a pilot program.

The PC's will be used by the ''field'' maintenance crews for extensive testing in the areas of integrating pen-based computer maps into the maintenance crews' daily activities. Thus virtually eliminating paper copies of work orders/service requests and paper maps. Field crews derive major benefits by having: a) an electronic map display, b) true geographic locations, and c) lists of outstanding service requests with water distribution and wastewater collection facilities. The crews may also perform asset data and electronic map updates; depicting new or modified asset locations. The crews' vehicles can be equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS), so that a vehicle's position can be located relative to new job site locations.

The Public Water Quality Division of Sacramento intends to conduct, during the next several months, a comprehensive performance review of the Pen-Based Computers purchased. Management believes that a conclusive review of the hardware will result in the purchase of over 100 units, including the company's SWIM software for Sacramento's field maintenance vehicles at an aggregate purchase price of over $1 million.

To date, two other Counties in the United States have confirmed their intent to purchase the SWIM software and portable computers for their Water Utilities divisions.

SWIMpen(TM) and SWIMdesk(TM) software have initially been developed for the City of San Diego (Water and Metro Wastewater Departments) at a cost of over $2 million. Since deployment in May 1997, the City has benefited substantially from the system as follows:

-- Elimination of paper maps;

-- Work productivity has increased by as much as 87%;

-- Map accuracy has been enhanced considerably;

-- Erroneous crew dispatches have been reduced;

-- Environmental citations have been avoided;

-- Duplicate data entry has been eliminated;

-- Decision making in the field has been simplified.

Wordcraft Releases Internet Fax Software at BTA 1999

IRVINE, Calif., April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Wordcraft Systems, Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: WORC - news) announced that it recently attended the annual Business Technology Association (BTA) 1999 exhibition held in Las Vegas, organized primarily for vendors, manufacturers of automated office equipment (fax machines and copiers) and thousands of their distributors and dealers including: Canon, Danka, IKON, Konica, Ricoh, Sharp, Toshiba, Xerox, and others.

The company featured HydraFax PC-Fax software, ''FaxForward,'' Internet Fax Software and its ''Fax Central'' (Fax Server) at the ''Connectivity Lab'' booth organized by BTA 1999 specifically to showcase products that are Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), and Internet connectable. Wordcraft was the only exhibitor at this booth. The company's new Internet Fax software, ''FaxForward,'' converts multi-functional devices (MFDs) into an Internet Fax Device which now has the capability to send faxes via the Internet to e-Mail addresses.

As a result of the show, the company is negotiating a software ''bundling'' arrangement with a major manufacturer of MFDs to include Hydrafax Lite and ''FaxForward'' with up to 10,000 of its MFDs. In addition, ''FaxForward'' was requested by three other major office equipment manufacturers for testing and possible ''bundling'' with their machines.

The company's ''Fax Central'' fax server was also featured and well received at BTA. It was concluded that the device may be strategically utilized by the various manufacturers of business equipment to generate increased sales of high-end digital printers/copiers. To that end, to date, one major manufacturer has expressed an interest in distributing Fax Central via its dealer network.
