DataMirror The First To Deliver New Cluster Management Solution for IBM AS/400

DataMirror To Introduce New iCluster(tm) Software For IBM AS/400 Cluster Management in July

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 23, 1999-- DataMirror Corporation (TSE: DMC - news) announced today that iCluster, its new cluster management software for IBM AS/400, will be available on July 14, 1999. This new high availability product complements IBM's clustering solution currently available with the release of OS/400 V4R4. IBM has worked closely with DataMirror, a High Availability Business Partner, for more than a year to design and deliver an extensive and easy to use high availability solution for clustered AS/400 servers.

In the Internet era, there is enormous pressure on organizations to keep their systems running continuously. Employees need access to systems every hour of the day. Customers expect 7/24 sales and service from corporate web sites and customer-facing applications. The introduction of Cluster Services into the base OS/400 operating system will help AS/400 customers achieve higher levels of data and application resiliency. DataMirror and IBM are working with leading application vendors to develop comprehensive ClusterProven(tm) solutions for AS/400 customers. The clustering capabilities provided by DataMirror iCluster will give companies new options for remaining up and running when unplanned or planned downtime strikes.

DataMirror was the first solution provider to offer customers a tightly integrated suite of components for high systems availability that was truly easy to install, configure and administer. DataMirror High Availability Suite has changed the paradigm for high availability software by significantly reducing the time and effort required to implement a high availability solution. DataMirror iCluster software, the latest offering in DataMirror's high availability family, will dramatically expand the current high service levels of the AS/400. It should greatly increase the number of customers who can use this technology to keep their mission-critical systems online seven days a week and twenty-four hours a day.

DataMirror iCluster will provide an intuitive interface for users to easily install, configure and manage the cluster. Customers will have the ability to define nodes in a cluster and determine what data is replicated to specific nodes within the cluster. They will also be able to perform rapid switchover between servers in the cluster should an outage occur. Customers will gain more flexibility and control over their computing environment, as well as the knowledge that the data and applications that drive their businesses are fully protected against system downtime.

''DataMirror technology leads the industry in providing reliable, high performance AS/400 high availability. This new product will help to maintain our leadership status by making it easy for our customers to rapidly implement and manage an AS/400 cluster,'' said Nigel Stokes, Chairman, President and CEO of DataMirror. ''For today's mission-critical applications including e-business and enterprise resource planning solutions, the cluster management capabilities provided by DataMirror will deliver unprecedented and unmatched levels of resiliency and availability.''

''The introduction of Cluster Services on OS/400 V4R4, together with cluster management solutions provided by DataMirror, will help our mutual customers expand server availability and reach new levels of data resiliency on AS/400,'' said Steve Finnes, Manager, High Availability, IBM AS/400 Brand. ''For customers, this translates into ease of management, high availability standardization, and the highest achievable levels of availability.''

DataMirror launches new Enterprise Administrator

DataMirror Corp DMC
Shares issued 10,360,060 Jul 5 close $4.45
Tue 6 Jul 99 News Release
Mr. Nigel Stokes reports
DataMirror Corporation has launched a powerful new Enterprise Administrator
for Transformation Server, the company's award-winning cross platform data
integration product. Enterprise Administrator features a common graphical
interface powered by Java, and allows users to manage enterprise data
integration across all major database systems from a single location. It
will reduce the total cost of ownership for administering data movement for
organizations with multiple databases.
Through a single unified administration point, Enterprise Administrator
eliminates redundant tasks in configuring multiple systems by intelligently
querying agents about their capabilities and characteristics. This feature
discovery capability greatly streamlines configuration and management of
data integration across platforms such as UNIX, Windows NT and IBM AS/400
and S/390. Users can easily set up tables on various servers for
integration, specify movement parameters and start either full refresh,
periodic net-change replication or real-time data mirroring. Overall
performance can also be improved by off-loading administration functions
from production systems to the portable and platform independent Enterprise
Administrator.
"We're aggressively jumping on Enterprise Administrator," said Brian Ary,
project leader for ADT Automotive/TYCO International. "As a user, I know it
will save me a lot of time. I no longer need to move between a number of
systems and interfaces to get complex things done. Because I can remotely
access my systems using Enterprise Administrator, I can provide faster
response and a higher level of service - even from home."
Enterprise Administrator uses the portability of Java to enable complete
platform independence. The common interface runs on the Java Virtual
Machine (JVM) and can be installed on any system running the Java Runtime
Environment (JRE). Enterprise Administrator ensures that Transformation
Server has a consistent look and feel on all supported systems.
"Utilizing the power and portability of Java, this new interface will
completely change the way our customers manage the end-to-end flow of
business data throughout their organization," said Nigel Stokes, chairman,
oresident and chief executive officer of DataMirror. "Previously, managing
a complex replication network involved the co-ordinated efforts of
administrators working in the various publisher and subscriber
environments. Now a single user with only general knowledge of the
different systems involved can easily manage the entire replication network
from a central location."
In keeping with DataMirror's e-commerce and Internet strategy, future
releases of Enterprise Administrator available in the second half of this
year will enable browser-based, install-free configuration of
Transformation Server via an intranet, extranet or over the Internet. Any
connected user with valid authorization and a standard Web browser will be
able to simply click on a link or visit a URL to run Enterprise
Administrator.
Enterprise Administrator is currently available for Transformation Server
for OS/390, and will be generally available for Oracle and Sybase on July
12, 1999. The new interface is scheduled to be rolled out across all
Transformation Server supported platforms including Microsoft SQL Server by
the end of July and IBM AS/400 by the end of September, 1999. For more
information, please call (800) 362-5955 and visit the company's Web site
www.datamirror.com.
Concurrently, DataMirror is announcing the July 12, 1999, availability of
the latest version of its data movement software for Oracle and Sybase.
Transformation Server V4.2 for Oracle and Sybase not only features the new
Enterprise Administrator, but also features many usability and performance
enhancements. Transformation Server V4.2 for Sybase now enables customers
to map to any Sybase database in their subscription system. Transformation
Server also includes an easy-to-use merge utility for customers who wish to
implement this new Sybase multidatabase capability.
DataMirror continues to lead the way in business-to-business e-commerce for
enterprise data integration software. Fully functional, trial versions of
Transformation Server V4.2 for Oracle and Sybase are available for download
