Carli, do us a favor and don't go away for good! I, too, was married to a man who was abusive--emotionally and sexually, a real sadist. And I supported the creature through a Ph.D. only to have him leave as soon as the last big dollar was spent. And he laughed about it. I count every day away from him to be a blessing! I also have a much happier relationship now. Len gets on his hobby horse every now and then, but he's also a sweetheart and a damned good friend. (Shhh, don't let him know I said that. It might go to his head.)
