<Can you make a cogent argument for why the US would intentionally bomb the Chinese embassy and then pretend it was a mistake? I'd like to hear it..Dave > Well, I did that in the long rant. Briefly, to demonstrate to China that they will be pummelled into submission since they are acting against USA interests in Kosovo. Also, China is threatening Taiwan and conducting military exercises. This is a quid pro quo. Also, China has stolen USA nuclear bomb secrets [allegedly though the USA has not prosecuted the alleged perpetrator] so this is one in the eye for them on that = mess with us and this is what you'll get. Also, China was allegedly trying to bribe the USA political process. Don't forget the failed Zhu Rongji/Clinton WTO discussions, the trade deficit with China which few people seem to understand and the political anger that seems to cause the ignorant people in the USA who can't understand the funds flow involved. Also, the satellite business, the soldering military secrets. Also, China is trying to become a world military power and is allegedly targetting the USA with nuclear bombs designed in America and using rockets provided by Loral and Bernie Schwartz. That's enough to do a bit of physical confrontation in the context of Kosovo and Belgrade where USA army troops are likely to be involved in a military suppression of Serbian ethnic cleansers. I'd do the same if Russia and China were likely to lend succour to Milosevic. This is big power politics. Convinced? This is not a Sunday School picnic being conducted in Yugoslavia. This is where the world starts it's end of the world scenarios. We are well on the way. One would then say it is a mistake because to do otherwise would be an outright declaration of war, which some would consider undesirable and it isn't an intention to conduct a war anyway. Just a warning shot! But I sure hope I'm wrong and the USA convinces China that it was indeed a mistake. Sure is a nice day! Mqurice
