It's a hard habit to correct. I've lost more on "gee gotta buy something" decisions than anything else. This is not a good time, even though there is money on the sidelines, there aren't buyers and won't be until the correction gets much uglier.

Michelle,

Just turned on CNBC and heard that a report/analysis of margin calls influence is... coming up right now.

edit: a simple recap of the report by Charles Biderman, Trimtabs.com.
"approx. 30% margin increases in the past two months..it's a bubble.."
p.s. woman to woman, I will never margin to buy/short/anything with net stocks.

We are all victims of habit - and seeing the huge run-ups in the past can be highly distorting. Just think about it - will there be more people sitting at their computer terminals playing the stock market game through the summer or will some of them want to play other games? Besides general slowness in retail sales, I think speculative fever will take a bit of a vacation.

One other statistic: Individual investor market margin now exceeds $40 billion - the largest by far in market history. As the high flying Internut stocks continue to fail to make significant rallies, more speculators will be forced into selling right when their selling leads to negative momentum. This is the reverse of a "short squeeze".

Michelle 275 is the next support level on IIX if Taken out i wouldn't want to be caught in it.I left the party when that all important bottom trend line was broken on IIX . I made one futile attempt to catch Amzn at 115 didn't work, sold it at 112. I will stay clear until capitulation.
