Jenne - FWIW, CNBC guest recommends CMGI as 'buy' now and one of the
internet "winners:" Brian Clifford of SunAmerica Asset Management.

It is easier to hold on with these whipsaws when basis is low. My basis goes back to 1/98 but I also bought at 196 and the 160's during the last drop on the way down from the then high of 226 -- this was not that long ago !! Having been through this last fall -- remember Oct. 8 -- and again in Jan. and then again recently, this downturn is just part of the "rugged" internet growth landscape.

The ones I feel badly for are those who bought at 250 + and now have the margin calls -- that's the scary part of this downturn, acceleration of the momentum of the margin calls -- the mirror image of the short squeeze propelling upward bursts.

Margin call selling is giving a 'distorted' picture of values on the way down, IMO, just as short covering gives a 'distorted' picture going up. Agree with SHGlaw's comments on this.

The long-termers make the real money at the buying opportunities (look at the charts for the inets from last October !!) and the shorts make the money at the toppy tops. If you're a Long-Termer, here's an opportunity !! - IMO

And if you believe in the long-term internet story, CMGI is still the best single DIVERSIFIED growth play, IMO.

Good luck to all --

George Martin
