I don't mind you jumping in with a great point- as a matter of fact, thank you.

However, you seem to be making my point in another way when you mention that restaurants are somehow different as a business because they aren't heavily capitalized.

I dare say, that they are no different on the business playing field, each is a new competitor, each has seen an opportunity and wishes to fill a customer need.

The internets don't have a double failure chromosome as opposed to the restaurants or any other industry- any new business is risky. Yes, since the public companies are composed of millions of investors they get the press and since it is a fashionable industry, even more so.

Every new business is the result of someone who wants to realize a vision. You indeed can compare one vision to another; the amount they are capitalized does not change their essence, nor the value of their success or failure.

Just my opinion.
