<<2110 GMT, 990525 – At a joint news conference with U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer called on May 25 in Washington for speedy passage of a UN Security Council resolution on Kosovo. Fischer said that such move would secure safe return of the nearly one million ethnic Albanian Kosovar refugees home. "We have to prepare ourselves for the success of the political solution. We are not talking about weeks and months, we're talking about hours and days," Fischer said.

Commenting on the issue, Albright said that the U.S. did not recognize the necessity of speeding up the passage of the resolution. Albright also said that the U.S. would strongly oppose any command structure of the peacekeeping forces that would not be led by NATO.>>

It has become a bit ridiculous that our administration is stalling the end of this conflict for as long as possible. Once again our inflexibility is biting us in the ass. Its getting to be absurd...

Derek, thank you for being willing to try again, and demonstrating that my expectations are high for a reason...If you feel like a third run at it, I would like to know what you think of the particular problems with ethnography I raised (shaman, parishioner, village atheist, lack of quantification, lack of "self- consciousness", that sort of thing). Otherwise, I think that you made about as good a defense as one could hope for in a brief space, and with reluctance to "get into it", and I am inclined to lay off of you:-)...
