OTOTOTOTOTOT bp, I think we're on the same page on all of the points, not just peripheral gadgets. I also sold my CPQ and DELL holdings in Feb just after the peak in each. I bought back the Dell at 40ish (after the second bounce off that level in early March) thinking that it would come back up. Oh well. I agree it's going to be flat for 6 months although they will be picking up international share, server share, appliance share, network storage share, and US share. I also am waiting to buy a new PC until next year (I already have my Easter list started <g>). The only thing I might disagree with is that the "average" user is waiting for some killer app. If you have an old low-speed Pentium or 486, you'd probably think a PIII is fast, and most customers don't know about Rambus. Dell doesn't even sell a PII anymore (not sure about the other vendors), so it's not as if you have much of a choice. And if you have one of the old machines, you might upgrade now for Y2K security. The more I think about the cellphone/PC issue, the more convinced I am that HP, for example, should add the cell phone capabilities to their little handhelds. My wife has an 820 running Windows CE. It already has a microphone and speaker -- I can't believe it would be that difficult to add the antenna, keypad, and circuitry to make it a phone. Now THAT would save having to carry one of my "devices". Even if I had a phone with Internet access, I'd still have to take a portable of some kind with me on the road to do work. But if an 820 (which is just barely larger than a cell phone) had cell phone capabilities built in, I could reduce the number of times I have to take a phone along. Dave (waiting anxiously for next year)
