Been lurking for a while. Thought I'd toss in a little comment.

Not technical, just an observation.

While having lunch today (West coast, lunch is market close hour, 3 to 4 EST), I overheard many people discussing the markets.

Several were concerned about the last 2 weeks and were going transfer their 401(k) funds into the guaranteed fund. Out of the growth funds, into the interest bearing. If they do it before end of day (4 pm EST), that's a lot of 6 figure accounts suddenly liquidating, if the feeling is more rampant than my little corner of the world. The mutual will have to sell to cover the withdrawals ...

I didn't hear this kind of talk during the little stumbles in February, early and late March and mid April. The "retail" folks are starting to worry.

I believe Joe Public will not treat this stumble as a buying opportunity, as he has in the recent past. This could amplify the correction substantially.

Not scientific, but, what is...
