Servers will become commodities just like desktops before them, starting at the low end. You can see it happening already. People bye a K6-2 350 box for $500 to run a linux email server. Even if K7 is delayed, the pricey Xeon boxes will be pushed into the high end, low volume SMP market. In addition the high-end SMP market has a strong Unix (non-x86) presence, which is getting stronger with every delay of Windows 2000.
