TTOBT: Excellent post. Unfortunately when someone screams fire in a packed movie house everyone runs for the door first and asks questions when they get outside and don't see any smoke. After they get outside some will never come back because they paid too much too see the show. Those with reserves will go back and see the movie again at much reduced prices. Greenspan like the rest of the idots in DC is a meglomaniac and thinks he knows the market. He doesn't know it but he sure can cause it to move. In my view more people should ask where are they going to put their money when they run out of the market? Bonds? Well if the nay sayers are correct and inflation is on its way then bonds don't look to happy either. CD's at 3-4% Ha!.

As you pointed out there isn't any imminent threat of inflation but as long as everyone believes there is we are in a bad time.

The other thing that gets me are these talking heads on TV who don't own 10 shares of stock who explain that the techs are particularly vulnerable because of the high cost of capital. What bull. The techs generally have the cleanest balance sheets in town and rarely if ever depend on borrowed capital. Yes the increase i rates hurts valuation models but it has really been overdone.

Having said all that it is conceivable that fear alone could push this market down another 10-15% as the talking heads on TV and DC continue to scream fire.
