Ten,

Contrast this with AMD who is charging blindly into the construction of a big superfab and who can't back down now even if the market takes a drastic turn. (Kind of like Clinton's splendid little war in Kosovo, no?)

I would not describe Bill Clinton or Jerry Sanders as faint hearted.

Tenchusatsu (or could I say Ten?),

Integration is not going to chew up a lot of fabspace in the near future (6-18 months). Longer term, it depends on who is leading who in what segment.

Regarding AMD: In this business fixed costs are very high and incremental costs are very low (I sometimes fail to understand people's fixation on die sizes specially since that is typically about a third of the total chip cost). Market share is AMD's goal (and then profitability) and I think their gamble is fine if they want to be a big time player. Now, if they deliver consistently on what they commit....
