>>Durable goods orders tumble
Orders for big-ticket manufactured goods fell sharply in April, coming in much weaker than economists' forecasts. Durable goods orders fell 2.3 percent, the Commerce Department said, while analysts had forecast a rise of 0.3 percent. <<

what gives with this?

What, the beloved glue bong didn't show up?!! Better put out the search dogs.

I suppose the durable goods number should give the dippers something to grab on to. But I don't think it will matter much by the end of the day. CNBS is saying the Inuts are trading up. Who in their right mind would still put real money into those things? Also, there are apparently 63 new inut IPOs coming down the pipe. Got to be the end, No?

Well the gluebong finally showed up and it was delivered
by RealMan. Thankfully he was quick with me today.<g>

Days like today make me scratch my head more about lost
profits than actual losses. I took gains on my SPM shorts
after when went back up through the opening range leaving
a lot on the table during that early dip to 1280.80. Then
I had a lunch meeting only to come back and see my bonds
stopped out on a crappy fill after the 2 yr. auction. Now
I knew I was leaving myself open psychologically, being
long bonds after being short all spring, but jeeze I hate
losing more than I planned on. And now bonds look good
to short again if stocks go higher, and that's a big if, and
they can't even get a puny 2 yr. off well-bid.

So now I'm basically flat on spec. positions and plan to
make no trades until after Memorial Day. I've
had a great spring but have gotten whipped around a little
these last few days so it must be time for a break.
