Yogen Fruz World-Wide has purchased the Honey Hill Farms Yogurt business of
Monterey, Calif., for an undisclosed purchase price.
Honey Hill Farms is a leading brand of non-fat frozen yogurt that is
popular in yogurt shops and other food service venues. Honey Hill Farms'
products include soft-serve and packaged frozen yogurt. Honey Hill Farms,
founded in 1977, was a pioneer in developing premium frozen yogurt, and is
considered the most widely known brand in California.
"This acquisition is of strategic importance to our west coast growth
plan," commented Michael Serruya, co-president and co-chief executive
officer of Yogen Fruz World-Wide Incorporated. "Honey Hill Farms has a
strong regional presence on the United States west coast. Their frozen
yogurt product is extremely popular and will improve our position in the
lucrative west coast market."
As of Aug. 31, 1998, Yogen Fruz had approximately 4,900 locations, through
company owned, franchised and non-traditional partnership locations in 82
countries.
