No spike happens instantly... -there was a pre-spike period of approx. 3 years...the length of a tour of duty...[if, in fact, there was a spike in '46.] The Boomers are as old as 57 today...the leading edge of the birth increase directly related to WWII. Madison Ave. has fooled you, again..."cold, hard" demographics are up for interpretation...just like statistics, you can manipulate the "facts" to some extent...it's in the interpretation. It would be interesting to see the Actual birth numbers, 1941 thru '47...
