Yes, I realize that--though rather than killed, it would be stubbing my toe, given the size of the limit orders. But with a 100% spread offered by the professionals, and with the options in my account to cover the sell side, I actually would not have minded getting a fill either way. The bid was way below what it was worth given the current level of the stock (SCH) and the asked was way above. And as a private investor with limit orders in, I would have no responsibility for maintaining a market in case of a huge move.

I assume whoever does this for a living has software that automatically recalculates values every time the stock moves a little.

Do you know any option market makers? They must have the temperament of a kindergarten teacher with a bunch of unpredictable children.
