I don't find the two statements incompatible or contradictory. I think we will look back years from now (probably sooner) and recognize Qualcomm/Ericsson settlement as a catalyst that allows adoption of CDMA to accelerate.

It's my experience that setting of standards takes longer than any of us thinks it will, much less what it should. The amount of time it takes shouldn't be confused with the fact (OK, my opinion) that the Ericsson/Qualommm deal is a huge catalyst that is allowing things to move forward at a much faster rate.
