What I don't understand is if VISX earned .58 last quarter then why does every place I look show .29?????

I don't think the street reaction is related to the facts at hand. This market has traded on momentum for quite a while and investors tend to bail on anything going down regardless of the facts. VISX suddenly looks risky now even though the risks have been apparent for quite a while. Look at Dell. Number one in its sector and growing at a fantastic rate and it is dropping like a rock. Look at Pfizer. It has the best pipeline and current offerings in the drug industry and it is dropping like a rock. I could go on and on and list Microsoft, Intel, America Online. . . Being the best in a growing industry has no meaning in today's market.
I plan on benefiting from other's stupidity. I will buy more today and will continue to buy on each drop as the same news is recycled over and over again.

I hope that you have not repurchased your mother. LOL. VISX is being added to the Nasdaq 100 index. From CBSMarketwatch.com:

VISX Inc. (VISX: news, msgs) will replace Nordstrom (NOBE: news, msgs)
on the Nasdaq 100 index, effective June 10. Nordstrom is leaving the
Nasdaq Stock Market to be traded on the New York Stock Exchange. VISX
develops refractive laser technology. Ahead of the news, VISX shares
lost 5/16 to 54 3/4 while Nordstrom shares fell 1 25/32 to 35 3/16.
