FWIW, I just checked the NYSE sight, and the figure they are showing on their "revised" margin debt sheet is $173 billion for April, an 11% increase from March and a 22% increase from February. I don't know when the info sheet was revised, although I presume the initial April figure shown was the $183 billion I have frequently seen cited.

This should not alter the significance of the message.
