RELEASE DATE: 25th May 1999

THE X-STREAM NETWORK ANNOUNCES ALLIANCE WITH CARLTON ONLINE

The UK's first free Internet Service Provider adds to its on-line services.

London, 25th May 1999 , The X-Stream Network, the UK's first free ISP and pioneer of the calls free strategy, announces an alliance with Carlton Online as a content service provider to increase the information and entertainment available to X-Stream subscribers and site visitors.

The deal brings three new areas of interest for X-Stream users so that from X-Stream's website they can now access information on the latest film releases courtesy of www.popcorn.co.uk, access to games and quizzes via www.jamba.co.uk as well as links to gastronomic information at www.simplyfood.co.uk.

As well as full national cinema listings, Popcorn features film reviews, pictures, video trailers, and audio interviews with major stars. Videos will be on sale through e-commerce partnerships.

Sam Michel, executive producer of Popcorn, says: "We're aiming at the mainstream cinema-goer, rather than 'film anoraks'. There is a tremendous depth of information on the site, but our focus is on the news and gossip, the latest releases, the big stars. We've included a lot of irreverent features which we think will appeal to our target audience." Popcorn has the exclusive UK license to the StarLinks software, which shows the professional links between any two film actors you can name, while 'Allegedly' focuses on the more personal liaisons between stars.

Jamba.co.uk brings together a host of interactive games and quizzes. These range from 'Jumbo Jamba', with its major gameshows, such as Catchphrase, through to pub quizzes and darts in 'Bar Jamba', to a range of diverse challenges and puzzles in 'Jamba Dips'. New features and games will be introduced regularly.

Kirsty Marron, producer of Jamba, explains: "Jamba.co.uk is the best site for British Internet users to play games and win big prizes. While the Internet is becoming a useful tool in daily life for many people, Jamba shows that it can also be downright fun."

Simplyfood.co.uk includes a searchable restaurant guide, a database of thousands of recipes, wine guides and tastings, nutritional facts plus reviews and specialist sections on organic food and chocolate.

Charlotte Tookey, Producer of SimplyFood says: "It's a totally comprehensive online food and drink resource, backed by authoritative experts in each area. But we've made sure it's completely approachable, and even the most novice cook will find something useful here."

X-Stream understands the needs of Internet users and aims to provide a broad and thorough scope of services via its web site. The site is dynamic and user friendly offering visitors an easy, accessible interface to whatever information they require, including news, travel, finance and of course, details on how to make best use of the Internet.

Paul Myers, MD of X-Stream UK, comments "We want to give our subscribers and users as much useful information as possible in a format that is easy to use. X-Stream is an Internet focussed company, not another Internet 'wannabe', so we understand what people want from the Internet and how to design Internet solutions that allow them to find what they need easily and quickly. The addition of Carlton Online's services to The X-Stream Network gives a greater "entertainment" focus to complement the existing information we provide."
