Thanks for putting things in perspective, Gregg. As a relative newbie to Q, I rely on inputs from Old Timers like you to stay in synch with reality. Let the market do what it will, the earnings report in July will put all the doubts to rest.

My Friend Gregg:

<<It's actually sad that you seem to think that Tony's pearls of wisdom on MSNBC>>
Interview was on CNBC to be exact.(or was it also on MSNBC? )
Bought a few more shares of QCOM at 92-3(sold COST) and will hold for long term.
(many years i hope) As long as the fundamentals remain strong.

sure is a nice day
Michael

Hey what is all this stuff? Isn't this the Chinagate thread? (LOL)

Gregg, back to hand holding the tread, feels like old times! Great to point out the meteoric rise in the past months but what is your rate of return since you have owned a major position? There is an opportunity cost with funds, everyone likes a great rise but sometimes if it takes years from your initial purchase to get that rise, your money might have been better off somewhere else.

Not telling you anything you dont know - just trying to get the correct outlook for some of the newer bodies on this thread. Qualcomm is in a position, as you correctly point, to profit and grow for some years to come. 25% off the top is transparent to those with enough mental capacity (or hairy arms - to paraphrase Maurice) to have gotten in last year. Just like 25% off the top next year will be a wash for those with the mental capacity to buy today.

If you recall a few months ago, there was quite the hand wringing over the drop from 70 due to the start of the Asian mess. Looking those 'reds' in the face is not easy. New bodies to Qualcomm have the conviction of the longs or dont watch the ticket so closely - you will sleep easier.

I know it is not Friday, but after these past couple of days, I think it is time for a beer.

Gregg did the wife kick you out of bed this AM? I said I agree with everything you are saying. I am buying stock every 10pts down, as well as options. I love the management and the company, but I wish they would make their point to the public better. It has nothing to do with the stock price, but the companies image, and the publics understanding. I have been interviewed before, and I know that its no walk in the park. Even if Qcom does 2.00 this quarter, if the market gets whacked it wont matter. I am a little nervous, so I appologize if I take my frustrations out on Mr Thornley! I am happy with the stock price, and unconcerned with the 25% decine. I am worried about overall market technichals and fundimentals. If the market doesnt stabilize we will see a collapse in tech stocks(not that I dont think some deserve it).

Gregg -

Boy oh boy is it good to have you back again.

Great post. Summed it up beautifully and now we will all feel alot better. Quintuple OK ...human nature....taking candy from the kids...see the look on THEIR faces and thats just candy. Kids are smart you know they know the difference between candy and 25% off the all tinme high of the Q!!

But hearing from you with a post like that the troops will go over the top for you every time.

I still think that the market is going to tank 1.5% to 2% a day average till earnings season starts and thats not science its just a feel and a good comparison to last February. If you remember it was day after day of it. There is always something extra to worry about and this time G got this "bias" stuff into everyones mind but looking around the World markets the idea of turning off the only economy on the planet that has any chanve of pulling the rest out of the quicksand is a non-starter. Sure old G can put teh wind up the market in the second month of the quarter but I'll bet he wouldn't stand much of a chance against the bulls when earnings season starts again.

I mean its clear that the Q is roaring and take a look at CSCO down from $123 to below $110 when its got such a future ahead of it. It seems clear to me that this sell off is totaly unreal. But it does suit G who is I guess trying to just clam the market a little and thats probably not too bad in the end as performance will be the final arbiter every time. Which brings us to the shorts. Do you really suppose that they actually cooked up this scam to try and scare the stock down? I mean that is some conspiracy if its true. Some bright young lawyer ought to have a go at that!

Anyway great to have you back and hope you and wife are well and enjoying married life together.

Thank you Gregg,

L
