New York Lottery Reorders MDI'S Wheel of Fortune Game

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 25, 1999--MDI Entertainment, Inc. (OTC BB:MDIH) announced that the New York Lottery has reordered ten (10) million additional tickets for MDI's Wheel of Fortune licensed lottery game. The decision to renew, made after only two weeks of sales, reflects the strong early sales of the Wheel of Fortune instant game.

The New York Lottery will print ten (10) million additional $2.00 tickets. The total game is now expected to generate over $40 million in revenue for the Lottery and contribute over $10 million to education in the Empire State.

The game has a top prize of $50,000. In addition, with this new printing, the Lottery is offering players the chance to win one of twelve (12) trips for two to Hollywood, plus an audition to become a contestant for Wheel of Fortune. Recently, Shirley Romasko of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin became the first lottery player selected to appear on the Wheel of Fortune show. She won over $3,500 in prizes. Also, by following instructions on the back of the ticket, players can purchase a Wheel of Fortune T-shirt and receive $10.00 in lottery coupons in a tie-in program being run by MDI and the Lottery. To date, MDI has received nearly 3,000 T-shirt orders. With the additional tickets and T-shirt sales, the total value of the MDI contract should exceed $400,000.

This T-shirt program is the precursor to MDI's initial E-Commerce plans announced on May 7, 1999.

MDI will establish web sites, as well as catalogs, to enable players holding non-cash or merchandise winning tickets to purchase themed merchandise by using the non-winning tickets as discount coupons. The sites will be lottery and licensed product specific and will allow ticket holders to apply the original price of the ticket for discounts towards the purchase of merchandise available through the web sites and catalogs. Tickets can be aggregated for discounts of up to 20%.

''We are gratified by the New York Lottery players' response to the Wheel of Fortune game and the T-shirt offer,'' stated MDI President & CEO Steven M. Saferin. The Lottery's reorder attests to the strength of the Wheel of Fortune brand and the players' interest in the T-shirt offer helps confirm that strength.
