I think plenty will sell on the way back up. That's how a stock matures. They'll be looking for the next Amazon and all that. I'll be very happy if Amazon simply out-performs the Gap or Abercrombie now.

Until this correction I have always traded, taxes be damned. I always knew that the fox who chases two rabbits (capital gains and tax savings) usually catches neither.

A few things happened to change my tactics. Most importantly I made alot of money. That changes your strategies. There's no hurry now.

Secondly, taxes have become a BIG consequence. Using a template that a tip-tier internet stock will triple, then correct 50%, then triple, then correct 50%, etc, it makes no sense to sell with a 50% tax rate.

There are a few things I would do differently next time. I will sell more calls and I will trade my IRA again to some degree. But I've passed the point of closing entire positions. Jan pointed out what that cost me with Amazon last fall. Perfect example.
