Japan: With all the focus and handwringing re China (and in the WSJ and on CNBC), Korea, why is so little said about the CDMA launch in Japan in full swing since April?

While Brazil, Mexico et al have major launch stories underway and are very positive, the Japan launch seems to be the most positive of all. And the Q is supplying 100% of the ASICs for the CDMAOne roll out, no? Wont this make for good earnings in this current quarter and major increases during 1999?

Note: Focus in Japan seems to always be on NTT. Sure NTT is the giant. But NTT's business in PHS is dying. NTT's (DoCoMo)'s WCDMA is not even set in its specs yet.

Isn't the story CDMAOne in Japan? And isn't this especially so since Japan is likely to be where all the necessary actions are underway to make more rapid data transmission available during 1999? Chaz
