BGR, Irving Fisher was the most respected economist of the 20's when he announced that stocks have reached a permanently high plateau and prosperity was here to stay. He admired the Fed's easy money policies because there was no product price inflation. Only the austrian economists saw inflation in the financial markets and predicted the collapse. mike

Look pal, I am not interested in bringing back some 6 months old discussion back here. I don't have the time, nor patience to deal with it.

I am convinced that you are a very bright person. That does not preclude me to think that you are misguided. But, I don't know what you are trying to prove to this thread. But let me make one thing clear, there are enough best minds who post on this thread for which SI should be proud of. They do know what they are talking about. That is my judgment. If you want to call it chest thumping devoid of arguments, so be it.

The fact that some guy who is full of himself calls Krugman one of the best in international trade is not going to change my opinion on him. My opinion is based on my own criteria of evaluation. I could care less if you agree with me or not.

PS: Perhaps you are going to call this a flame. I will save you the trouble. It is a flame. You are not only full of yourself for no apparent reason and you can't even see a flame YOU started with Tomasso and later blamed him for flaming you.

I will let you have the last word.

Aside from the fact that being one of the best economists is a little like being one of the best astrologists, Krugman is good. However, I hesitate to imagine he endorses quite as optimistic a view as you do. It's been a while since I trolled his website; have any links? -mb

BGR, You should love chest thumping. Yours must be black and blue. <g> My letter to Barron's debunking some of Krugman's silly theories did not get me a nomination to a Hall of Fame. Of course, Barron's is not an academic journal. Epstein in Barron's ripped Krugman's face off fairly well and he even responded to it in his column on the Net. And Richebacher has taken Krug to the woodshed many times.
