to MD responding - note that eight analysts in 1998 downgraded Dell from Strong Buy to Buy, only to upgrade Dell to Strong Buy again AFTER it had climbed above their original downgrade price. Why would MD have to continually respond to such consistent uncertainty? Most analysts first believe, then they analyze. They don't analyze and then believe.

The Nasdaq mess has a lot to do with control and less to do with demand. Loosen controls, stocks move up, tighten them, they act squeemish. Throw in a few liars, guessers and misinformed, and it adds up.
