"Windows 98 is the operating system of choice for our home and small business customers, especially those small businesses who are not ready to move to Windows NT," said Stephan Godevais, vice president and general manager of Dell's Inspiron and Dimension segments. Customers can use the free CD to update the Dell factory-installed Windows 98 operating system to the latest version. Dell plans to begin factory installing the new version on Dimension and Inspiron concurrently with Microsoft's June 10 retail and Web-site launch.

Initial update CDs are available in English and will be shipped from every Dell manufacturing facility. Dell's U.S. and European customers will be the first to receive the update. As Microsoft makes available the update CDs in different languages, Dell will add those to its selection.

I was a little taken aback yesterday when I first visited the new Austin airport which opened this weekend. The arrival/departure displays, at least in the AA area, appear to be driven by scads of Compaq PC's (one for each two displays, of which there are 8 in a cluster, i.e. 4 PC's driving 8 monitors). I assume the contract for these went out to bid at some point; I would have thought Dell would have made more of an effort to showcase Dell machines here on "home turf."

I also wonder what sort of design requires that many PC's merely to drive a few screens -- maybe they're hoping at least some of them will stay up.

JMHO.

>>I am not impressed and if you are really honest you would agree.

then sell your shares.<<

I think it is wiser to get the board of directors to correct the problems with management then to sell stock in every company that has problems. I am hoping that Dell is only a temporary one.
